Background

A follower asked: How to add ribs in the marked area (orange region)?

Cross-shaped intersecting ribs are very common, but sink marks often occur at the intersections.

Here are optimized solutions:

Remove one outer rib to turn the cross shape into a T-junction, which reduces sink marks.

The asterisk/star-shaped rib has similar drawbacks:

  • Thick walls at intersections tend to cause sink marks.
  • Sharp corners in the mold shorten its service life.

The T-shaped reinforcing rib is simpler and was shared by a group member.

For radial ribs on a circular plate:

You can add a circular groove in the middle.

This also prevents sink marks and extends mold life.
