In the development of electronic products, we often need to position and fix LCD screens. There are display modules integrated with touch screens, as well as separate fixation structures. Here I’ll share several types of separate fixation methods and their key design details.

Common Fixation Methods
For smaller screens, direct back adhesive tape can be used to attach the screen to a plastic bracket or panel—this is a common approach for products like electric toothbrushes.
The entire back of the glass screen is covered with adhesive tape, and jigs are used for precise positioning during assembly.

This method applies when a product has ample internal space and the display angle forms a certain degree with the mold ejection direction of the outer casing. A dedicated plastic bracket is made to support and fix the LCD screen, such as in blood pressure monitors.

Widely used in electronic products, like early tablet computers. The typical snap engagement depth is 0.4–0.5mm, and snaps are usually arranged along the length of the LCD screen. If space permits, foam padding can be added to the back for cushioning.
Commonly used for large-size products such as LCD TVs. To ensure sufficient fixation strength for the LCD screen, sheet metal parts are used to press and secure it in place.

For this method, the LCD screen is usually equipped with positioning posts on its back. Meanwhile, there should be no electronic components on the contact surface between the PCB board and the LCD screen, and a foam pad is highly recommended for cushioning between them.

When space allows, the LCD screen itself can be fitted with dedicated plastic pins to be directly fixed to the main circuit board.

Key Consideration
The choice of LCD screen fixation method should be a comprehensive decision based on product cost and application scenarios. Fixation for small-size screens is relatively straightforward, while large-size screens require additional structural reinforcements for stable fixation. More design essentials for the connection between LCD screens and outer casings will be shared in subsequent posts.
